Artificial or Natural Grass? An Honest Comparison

July 12, 2026

We install both, so we have no reason to sell you one over the other. Here is how the decision actually breaks down for UAE properties.

Cost over five years, not on day one

Natural turf is cheaper to lay and more expensive to keep. Artificial is the reverse. Around the four to five year mark the running totals usually cross, so the honest question is how long you intend to keep the property.

Where natural wins

Open sunny gardens with proper irrigation and someone maintaining them. Nothing matches the temperature and feel of real grass, and it does not get uncomfortably hot underfoot in July.

Where artificial wins

Shaded courtyards where grass will never establish, roof terraces with load and drainage limits, holiday homes that sit empty for months, and pet areas. It also wins where water cost or restriction is a genuine concern.

The compromise most clients land on

Artificial in the tight shaded side returns and courtyards, natural in the main open garden. It is not a cop-out — it is matching material to condition, which is what a landscaper should be doing anyway.
